When you are on Holiday people love to do a bit of shopping and when you are in Mallorca it will not disappoint as there are many places to choose from. Throughout all the resort areas there are normally plenty of souvenir shops and supermarkets as well as clothing stores and tobacconists. Prices are reasonable compared to most other countries especially tobacco but check your allowances before you buy and also for alcohol. The capital Palma has an amazing city centre and it is now a popular choice for shoppers with it’s many smaller boutique type shops selling beautiful clothing and gifts for both adults and children plus look out for their traditional toy shops. There are also many larger stores with brands such as Zara, Mango and H&M available at often better prices than back home. There is a larger famous store called El Corte Ingles (two of them in Palma) with six plus floors selling all of the designer labels with often great instore discounts depending on the time of year. On the outskirts of Palma there is a popular indoor shopping centre called Porto Pi with many stores over two floors with everything you need and a large supermarket so this is always busy especially when one of the many cruise ships are in town. Those of you from the UK will be amazed to see there is also a C&A store in the city centre!
There are also two larger out of town shopping complexes now on the Island to visit if you have a car. Firstly there is the “Mallorca Fashion Outlet” in the centre of the Island and formerly called “Festival Park” which is very popular with people on the Island as well as visitors as it is set in an American style outdoor venue with numerous streets with a wide choice of clothing brand available. Their most popular store is the Nike outlet with impressive discounts but some of the other brands include Timberland, Guess , Desigual, Bimba & Lola , Hawkers sunglasses, Asics, Calvin Klein, Converse, Diesel, G-Star Raw, Lacoste, Polo Ralph Lauren, Quicksilver, New Balance, Reebok, Samsonite, Superdry, Sunglass Hut, Tommy Hilfiger, The Body Shop, Under Armour, Swarovski and Vans. There are plenty of places to eat including tapas, pizzas and even a McDonalds plus many ice cream shops and there is even a cinema.
The second out of town shopping centre only opened in the last few years and is called “Fan” which is located close to the airport and Palma city. Again, very popular with locals as it has the first and only Primark store on the Island as well as H&M, C&A, Adidas, JD Sports, Foot locker, Game, Havaianas, Springfield, Decathlon, Guess, Levi’s, Pandora, Vans, Mango and Women ‘Secret. They also have a large supermarket and plenty of places to eat whether you fancy a burger at Hollywood’s or Burger King, a Thai or Japanese or a local pastry and ice cream it is all here.
Finally, there are plenty of Supermarkets throughout the Island with both Lidl and Aldi having stores nearly everywhere and there are also plenty of Eroski’s around the Island. The larger supermarkets are Carrefour which is based in both Fan and Porto Pi plus they have a big store on the main motorway near Palma and also there is a big supermarket on the main road between Palma and Alcudia called Alcampo which is also very good.
