Where to stay for couples in Mallorca.
Over the last few years Mallorca has become a very popular destination for couples either for their main Summer holiday or a quick mini break in maybe May or October.
Many find it difficult deciding where is best to actually stay on the Island but they often want a good choice of local bars and restaurants rather than staying in their hotel for the whole time.
Most areas in Mallorca are suitable for couples and the right option depends on personal preference but some are better than others. In the south west you have Magaluf, Palmanova and Santa Ponsa which are the longer standing resorts which have been popular for years with couples. Many choose these because there are many attractions within the area such as Western Water Park, Katmandu, Pirates Adventure or Reloaded, Gringos Bingo, Son Amar as well as many boat trips either during the day or sunset cruising of an evening. Many enjoy discovering the local area and more importantly the local beaches or the smaller pretty hidden away coves that can be found with the right directions! The shorter airport transfer also attracts people and now in these areas many of the hotels have had refurbishments and upgraded their star ratings. The resort of Andratx is also now becoming very popular and is close to Santa Ponsa. Other popular resorts are Paguera, Camp De Mar, Portals Nous and Illetas. The capital city Palma, which is a bus ride away, is always on the agenda and if it is a short break then many people actually prefer to stay in Palma itself as it is only a 10 minute taxi ride to the airport and there is so much to see and do in the city.
The north of the island is also very popular for couples especially the Port of Alcudia, Can Picafort and the Port of Pollensa where there are some great bars and restaurants to keep you entertained. There are many excursions available from all areas, but many people like to hire a car so that they can explore the island at their own pace and there are some incredible beaches to see. The tip of the island is called Formentor and it is definitely worth a visit if you are in the north as well as the Alcudia market which is twice a week. The airport is only about an hours drive so not bad at all and there are plenty of options for return transfers or again you could book car rental from the airport for your whole holiday as it might work out cheaper than transfers and then hiring a car locally.
The east coast over the last 20 years has really developed but many of the hotels and complexes are geared towards families but there are also places much more for couples with entertainment more for adults and a more relaxed pool area. The most popular places to stay are Sa Coma, Cala Bona, Cala Millor, Cala D’or and Calas de Mallorca. Again, it is a good idea to rent a car either locally or from the airport as there are some great places to see like the Caves of Drach and beaches like Es Trenc. Wherever you stay on the island you are sure to have a great holiday or short break as long as you pick the right hotel and the right month to suit you so if you need any prices of hotels and help choosing the best place then please contact us on info@freestylemallorca.com and for any information on days or nights out
