The Island of Mallorca is a beautiful place with different resorts to suit all types of visitors whether it be a group of young people, a family with children or couples.
Many people ask where is best to stay on the Island and until you research Mallorca then you do not realise how big it is and how many places there are to choose from.
Every area is suitable for families and the right option depends on personal preference but there is now a good selection of both apartments and hotels with 3 , 4 and 5 star ratings available. In the south west you have Magaluf, Palmanova and Santa Ponsa which are the longer standing resorts which have been very popular for many years with families. Many families choose these resorts because there are many attractions within the area such as Western Water Park, Katmandu, Pirates Adventure, Golf Fantasia, Marineland and the Aquarium. There are also many great beaches with good facilities and water sports on many of them, which is important to everyone. The shorter airport transfer also attracts people and now in these areas many of the hotels have been refurbished and upgraded their star ratings. The resort of Andratx is also now becoming very popular and is close to Santa Ponsa. Also popular are the resorts Paguera, Camp De Mar, Portals Nous and Illetas. The other thing that attracts people to these resorts are that they are only a small distance from the capital city of Palma which is on the list of things to do for most people and is definitely worth a trip by day or by night.
The north of the island also attracts families especially the resorts of Alcudia, Can Picafort and Puerto Pollensa, where there are some great complexes with many facilities and the beaches again in these resorts are excellent. The largest water park on the island is only about 45 minutes away and is called Aqualand and there are excursions available from all area, but many people like to hire a car and also explore the island for a few days. The airport is only about an hours drive so not bad at all and there are plenty of options for return transfers or you could book car rental from the airport for your whole holiday as it might work out cheaper than transfers and then hiring a car in resort.
The east coast over the last 20 years has really grown for the family market and there are so many places to choose to stay for example Sa Coma, Cala Bona, Cala Millor, Cala D’or and Calas de Mallorca to name a few. There are some really impressive hotel and self catering complexes now on offer with amazing things to do for the kids and all the family including huge swimming pools with pirate ships, sports facilities and great day and evening entertainment.
